Bypass Shock!

In November 2000 Haywards Heath was plunged into crisis by the commencement of works to construct a bypass that allowed motorists to avoid the town altogether when visiting the south coast and beyond. We feared that the delights of Haywards Heath would only be experienced by the intentional visitor and resident rather than those who had simply lost their way. However, the scandal of the project reached Westminster and as yet only a minor diversion of Isacs Lane has been completed and partly landscaped.

Since construction began we have bought you exclusive reports on the progress of this asphalt dagger being stabbed through the heart of the town and its residents. Though construction appears to have been suspended we will continue to bring you exclusive bypass reports whenever something happens.
